at this next photo, and this is the president greeting michelle obama as she arrives in iowa before the election. that's a great picture. just the anticipation. >> you know, andrea, too, with that one, i think what's fascinating about it is both their relationship, which i think really did help frankly president obama in this election from his wife's speech at the xwengs all the way to the fact people liked him even if they didn't like his policies, they liked him as a husband and father. iowa is a place with an emotional hold for the obamas. that was the place where his campaign first won the iowa caucuses and began it all. >> this next picture is superstorm sandy. the president with mike bloomberg and janet napolitano touring the damage. you can just imagine how grim that tom donlon -- i'm not sure if tom is also in the picture. you can see what they're looking at. >> right. you know, the one that -- he's not in this picture, but what jumps in my mind is the criticism that chris christie got over saying nice things when president obama went up to new jersey to tour the devastation

in florida. no secret service around, where were they? also the record-setting victory tweet with michelle obama, that famous photograph on the cover of "the economist," two images that got so much play on social media. >> it was amazing. the famous hugging incident at the peaches shop happened in charlotte, after the convention, president obama came after that feeling very happy and obviously one of his fans in florida was also very happy. the secret service, they had their eyes wide at that event. looked like a friendly guy, nobody was going to interrupt it and turned out to be one of the great photo opportunities of all time. the hug went out after election night after we knew obama had won picture of the two of them hugging. retweeted more than a million times. it's a social media landmark. >> unbelievable. thank you so much for joining us. we appreciate it. >> thank you, sir. >> what political story will make headlines in the next 24 hours? that's next. coming back. start and finish with jonathan cape hart. doesn't get better than that. >> which political story will make headlines in

the campaign manager put together a come back plan. look we're the campaign that had been behind michele bachmann, we'd been behind rick perry, behind people who weren't even in the race. we were steady. those are moments when the campaign can either fall apart and start blaming each other and start yelling in the huddle or get together and hang your head down. >> rose: what about when you're speaking to supporters and you talk about the fact that the obama campaign and the president in a sense buy goodies bought the convention. >> this is what happened as far as i know. i wasn't on those calls, but i've heard a recording of the second call. he had some extended talk earlier in the day with a smaller group. and from what i understand, he was much more expansive about what he had, there's no one reason that we lost. we have to look at different things. and then he was on a second call. and i think that he sort of short handed things in a way that didn't come out the way that it was intended. it was supposed to be a call not to the public, it wasn't a speech, it was to his friends. i thin

blood there and, michelle fornoy, is -- >> the obama -- the first term, actually, someone who worked for president obama. >> and i think it would be a more popular choice. >> chris: a little over a minute left and i want to go on, and we'll go on at length in the panel plus, what did you think of wayne lapierre's statement. >> you heard the collective gasp when he got up there, stylistically and substantively what wayne said and i think the larger conversation, that he began, i thought it was a terrific interview with rick warren is what families are talking about. this holiday season. they are enjoying their time with their families but thinking of the connecticut families and i'm from connecticut and i grew up not far from newtown and i personally as a mom, am thinking about the mothers and fathers and get teared up when i talk about it. the rush -- if we had the assault weapons ban and only the ban on the high capacity magazines, we wouldn' have the problems. i think it is wrong headed. we could pass those laws tomorrow. and, if we did, i think we still have a significant problem,
